Remote Community Electrification

McLeod Wood Associates Inc. was instrumental in the connection of three remote diesel communities to the provincial electricity grid with 270km of high voltage transmission line between 2001 and 2003. Through this process, and our broader experience, McLeod Wood Associates has a clear understanding of the complex issues that remote communities face.

Our firm can provide advice on how to begin the grid connection process, and can provide support in negotiations with provincial and federal authorities on the connection process. Our advisors recently participated in a detailed study outlining the viability of remote community electrification. This study promises to have an impact in future years as Ontario continues to expand its grid transmission system northwards.
