Electricity Distribution

McLeod Wood Associates Inc. has experience in a variety of aspects of local electricity distribution in Ontario. We assisted in the creation of three First Nations community owned Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) including the initial business planning, board and management training, and the creation of personnel and financial policies. These communities were previously remote diesel powered communities and connecting them to the grid required significant discussion and lobbying at the federal and provincial levels to finance the project. We continue to provide ongoing advice and training as needed.

McLeod Wood Associates Inc. is familiar with the regulatory requirements for local distributors, as well as the business environment that they must operate in. We can provide advice and support for any community interested in pursuing the development of a new Local Distribution Company, or provide advice on the takeover of existing distribution assets.

MWA Inc. has undertaken research regarding Local Distribution Companies in remote communities, and can provide specialized advice on grid connections, business development, and other areas. Visit our remote communities page for more information. Contact us or find out more about what we do here.
